DENNY AND THE DROPOUTS

Denise Weiss also sang in other clubs in Wilmington and was hired to play in the band Ambush. Over time band members came and went and the band changed their name to Denny and the Dropouts as a cover band playing local Philly, NJ and Delaware clubs. Some members included John Polier, Guy Michetti-guitar, Rick Eddy-drums and Michael Capozzoli-bass.

Andy Wallace introduced them to Wally Gold who came out to see them perform at a club in North Jerset. He liked their 60’s sound mixed with 80’s New Wave and loved how they constantly smiled while on stage. He found it addictive. They continued to play clubs and once played the Spectrum with Sister Sledge and auditioned for Columbia/Epic records at a time when female rock singers fronting bands were a rare novelty.
